In 2010 and 2011, DEP and MEEP awarded student groups with Mini-Grants to implement school energy efficiency projects.
December 2011 Mini Grant Recipients:
- Bath Middle School: Jenny Galasso's eighth graders will purchase timers for 24 laptop charging stations.
- MapleStone School in Acton: Scott Hart's Environmental Science class will build a heating greenhouse attached to their carpentry classroom/shop.
- Windham Middle School: Helen Hurgin's seventh graders will purchase lighting occupancy sensors for two of their classrooms.
May 2011 grant recipients:
- Aucocisco School in Cape Elizabeth: roof insulation
- Hanson and Lebanon Elementary Schools in Lebanon: lighting occupancy sensors
- Lincoln Academy in Newcastle: high-efficiency hand dryers
- Lincoln Middle School in Portland: high-efficiency hand dryers
- Oak Hill Middle School in Sabattus: lighting occupancy sensors and winterization materials
2010 grant recipients:
- Casco Bay High School in Portland: high efficiency hand dryers
- Monmouth Academy: task lighting for teachers' desks and lighting occupancy sensors
- Sanford High School: timers for laptop charging stations and power strips for computers
- Tremont Consolidated School: timers for laptop charging stations
